The Northfield Nighthawks will challenge the Vista PEAK Prep Bison at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Northfield will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Northfield is returning to their home field after beating Lutheran on theirs, despite the fact Lutheran has dominated at home this season. The Nighthawks came out on top against the Lions by a score of 10-7 on Monday.
Jacob Lawson looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.
At the plate, Jose Fernando La Cruz Romero and Jack Phiel did most of the damage at the plate: La Cruz Romero scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Phiel went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Wicks, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Vista PEAK Prep's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Denver North by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bison have suffered since May 3, 2024.
Karter Robertson put in work no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Robertson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Domenic Montoya made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Northfield pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Vista PEAK Prep, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-8.
