Chapel Hill is 1-9 against Hillside since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chapel Hill Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Hillside Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Chapel Hill had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down Northern Durham 51-34. 51 seems to be a good number for Chapel Hill as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
It was another big night for David Mirikwe, who scored 16 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Kreig, who scored four points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Hillside strolled past East Chapel Hill with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 58-41. Given Hillside's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while East Chapel Hill is ranked 351st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chapel Hill's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Hillside, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home.
Chapel Hill came up short against Hillside in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 51-47. Can Chapel Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
