It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Harlingen Cardinals had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They breezed by Edinburg on the road to the tune of 42-0. Considering Harlingen has won four contests by more than 24 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Harlingen's defense and their four sacks. Edinburg's QB won't forget Shea Garza anytime soon given Garza sacked him twice.
The victory (which was Harlingen's third in a row) raised their record to 8-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Rivera and 4-7 Edinburg (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34% over those games). As for Edinburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
Harlingen will face off against Harlan at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Harlan will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. Edinburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
