1A/2A Cascade recap Oct. 9, 2012
Justin Peterson of Lakewood ran for the longest rushing play in 1A/2A Cascade this season against Sultan last week. Peterson ran for 99 yards on the play and finished with 134 on the day as his team topped the Turks.
Lakewood extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Sultan, 49-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the Dan Teeter's team.
The Cougars' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kolby Schueller threw for 214 and five touchdowns and Peterson had 111 yards receiving. On the ground Donovan Evans chipped in 162 yards. Brandon Stott helped Lakewood's passing attack out by catching two balls for 86 yards.
King's's Billy Green and Caleb Taylor have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Green has thrown for 1330 yards this season, while Taylor, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 38 catches for 646 yards. Lakewood's Evans leads the league in rushing yards with 639.
A big matchup in 1A/2A Cascade this week will be when Ben Murphy's team takes on Archbishop Murphy. At the moment, the Turks are in fourth, while the Wildcats are in third.
The Knights took down Cedarcrest 62-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
