The Stony Point Tigers won the last time they faced the Manor Mustangs, and things went their way on Friday too. Stony Point came out on top against Manor by a score of 48-36. Given Stony Point's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Manor is ranked 450th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stony Point to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mary Bortels, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds. Bortels hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Raeleigh Villanueva, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Stony Point's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Manor, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stony Point will challenge Vandegrift at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vandegrift and Stony Point are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Manor, they will head out on the road to face off against McNeil at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
