Basketball Recap: Zaiden Greene and Zion Greene Secure Win for Mcdonough

There's no place like home for McDonough, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against the Ola Mustangs by a score of 74-64 on Saturday. Given the Warhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Mustangs are ranked 309th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading McDonough to victory were Zion Greene and Zaiden Greene. Zion went 11 of 16 en route to 24 points and eight steals, while Zaiden dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists. Zion is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nathadeus Fambro, who posted seven points and eight boards.

McDonough smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Ola still got an impressive performance from Matin Bello, who went 8 for 19 on his way to 24 points. That's the most points Bello has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nigel Thomas, who put up 15 points and seven rebounds.

McDonough is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Ola, they dropped their record down to 7-13 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.

McDonough has already played their next contest, a 79-65 win against Eagle's Landing on the 28th. As for Ola, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 78-73 loss against Woodland on the 28th.
