Football Recap: Wall Piles Up the Points Against Stanton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wall). They claimed a resounding 71-7 win over the Stanton Buffaloes. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Buffaloes are ranked 1010th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Landon York produced another solid performance throwing for 142 yards and five TDs on perfect 8-for-8 passing. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Another player making a difference was Hagyn Barbee, who rushed for 59 yards and one score.

Wall was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 238 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Wall didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tayson Stucker and Gavin E Sisson. E Sisson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Wall pushed their record up to 10-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 37 points thus far. As for Stanton, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, Wall will take on Anthony at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Stanton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
