Savannah Country Day (Savannah, Ga.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 35-22 win over
Jenkins County (Millen, Ga.).
The Hornets put up 20 points in the opening frame. Savannah Country Day scored on a
Hunter Hatley touchdown run, a touchdown pass by
Demetris Robertson to
Ben Johnson and a touchdown run by
Oliver Cesar.
After taking the lead on a Hatley touchdown run in the first quarter, SCD led 27-7 at the half.
The Savannah school grew its lead to 27 points entering the fourth quarter. The Hornets' lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by Cesar.
The win was a nice bounce back for Savannah Country Day, which lost to Calvary Day last week, 57-13. The win broke Savannah Country Day's two-game losing streak.
Jenkins County (0-6) will play an A Region 3A game against Calvary Day next week, while Savannah Country Day (2-4) will take on Claxton also in an A Region 3A game.
