The Valparaiso Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Crown Point Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Valparaiso has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 29 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 60-31 victory over Elkhart at home. The win was familiar territory for Valparaiso who now have three in a row.
Valparaiso found their leader in underclassman Lillian Barnes, who scored 15 points along with 7 steals. The match was Barnes' third in a row with at least ten points. Becca Gerdt was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Lake Station Edison typically have all the answers at home, but on Monday Crown Point proved too difficult a challenge. Crown Point strolled past Lake Station Edison with points to spare, taking the game 71-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Ava Ziolkowski, who dropped a double-double on 41 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Crown Point's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gia Gagianas, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds.
Their wins bumped Valparaiso to 6-2 and Elkhart to 5-5.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Valparaiso hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 56.1 points per game. It's a different story for Crown Point, though, as they've been averaging only 55.3 per game. The only thing between Valparaiso and another offensive beatdown is Crown Point.
