Baseball Recap: Mayfield Takes a Loss

Schoharie hit Mayfield with a nine-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers came up short against the Storm, falling 11-1. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Storm apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Cubby Roth (C) was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Horn (C), who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Mayfield and nudges their season record down to 1-8. As for Schoharie, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Mayfield didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-2 loss against Cobleskill-Richmondville on the 13th. As for Schoharie, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-1 victory against Fort Plain on the 13th.
