A feisty cat fight will be fought as Willow Canyon Wildcats take on Canyon View Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Willow Canyon 3.3, Canyon View 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Canyon View will be up against a hot Willow Canyon team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Wildcats came out on top against Ironwood by a score of 8-3 on Tuesday.

Matt Huff looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Cameron Davidson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most triples he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Lemau, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Canyon View had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Scorpions with a sharp 12-1 win. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Canyon View also got a great performance from Josiah Rodriguez as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ricardo Yuriar, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Eli McBryde, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Canyon View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.
Canyon View's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Willow Canyon, their record is now 12-4.
Willow Canyon suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Canyon View when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
