New Castle had lost six straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-13 to make it seven. They lost 13-7 to the Cowan Blackhawks. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blackhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Wells has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Calleigh Clayborn was another, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Cowan, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
On Cowan's side, Savannah Bowling made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Bowling was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Cowan let Bryleigh Hiatt and Taylor Young run wild. Hiatt went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Young went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Young has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Hall, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Castle will venture away from home to take on Wapahani at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Cowan, they will head out to face off against Daleville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
