River Mill has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Chatham Charter Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. River Mill has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
River Mill scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 70-40 win over Ascend Leadership at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory River Mill has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Will Jones, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was David Wood, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and four steals.
Chatham Charter suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 60-39 walloping at the hands of Southern Wake Academy. While losing is never fun, Chatham Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 450th, while Southern Wake Academy is ranked 221st).
River Mill now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Chatham Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10.
River Mill was dealt a bruising 84-25 loss at the hands of Chatham Charter in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point River Mill was down 51-17.
