The Becker Bulldogs had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 76-59 victory over Willmar on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Becker found their leader in underclassman Nathan Weiss, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 4 assists. Another player making a difference was Josh Groskreutz, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Becker's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Willmar, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Becker will take on St. Cloud Cathedral at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Willmar, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Marshall at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
