There's no place like home for the Des Moines Demons, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 43-34 win over Trinidad on Thursday. This was payback for Des Moines, who suffered a 41-27 loss the last time these two teams met.
Trinidad's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danica Shipley , who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Layla Maes , who scored 11 points.
Des Moines now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Trinidad, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Des Moines will challenge Texline at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Texline will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 649th in Texas, while Des Moines is ranked 27th in New Mexico). As for Trinidad, they will head out on the road to face off against Raton at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Raton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
