The Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders will face off against the Wayne Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Palmyra-Macedon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.7 runs per game this season.
Palmyra-Macedon barely beat Newark the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Red Raiders were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Reds on Monday. The Red Raiders haven't had any issues with the Reds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Emma Cretelle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Shelby Geer was a standout: she got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kaedy Andross, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Palmyra-Macedon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Wayne fell victim to Geneva and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.
Wayne saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Newmyer, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Palmyra-Macedon's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Wayne, they dropped their record down to 4-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Palmyra-Macedon's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Red Raiders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Wayne, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Palmyra-Macedon continue to outrun the ball?
Palmyra-Macedon got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Wayne by a conclusive 7-0 score. Do the Red Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
