Basketball Game Preview: Bennington Badgers vs. Skutt Catholic SkyHawks

Bennington is 2-8 against Skutt Catholic since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bennington Badgers will take on the Skutt Catholic SkyHawks. Bennington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Skutt Catholic likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Bennington was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 72-66 to Hastings. The Badgers were down 62-41 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Bennington might have lost, but man, Austin Kaiser was a machine: he posted 29 points along with seven boards and four steals. That's the most points Kaiser has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jace Fitzgerald, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points.

Meanwhile, Skutt Catholic came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged the Eagles out 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the SkyHawks have posted since February 9, 2024.

Skutt Catholic pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Bennington, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.

Bennington didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Skutt Catholic in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 65-60 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bennington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
