This season hasn't been kind to the Peabody-Burns Warriors, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 45-19 walloping at the hands of Newton HomeSchool on Friday.
It was another big night for Ella Renninger, who scored 28 points along with eight steals and five rebounds for Newton HomeSchool. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Renninger has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sarah Busenitz, who scored 12 points along with seven steals and two blocks.
Peabody-Burns bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.7 points per game. As for Newton HomeSchool, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Peabody-Burns will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Chase County. Chase County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Peabody-Burns in Kansas (Chase County is ranked 156th, while Peabody-Burns is ranked 337th). As for Newton HomeSchool, they will head out on the road to square off against Varsity Opponent at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
