The East Central Hornets won the last time they faced the San Marcos Rattlers, and things went their way on Friday too. East Central walked away with a 56-48 victory over San Marcos. The victory made it back-to-back wins for East Central.
A'maya Holton was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emery Espinoza, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, San Marcos saw an underclassman step up: Azariah Fennell scored 16 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Ruiz, who scored five points.
East Central pushed their record up to 23-10 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for San Marcos, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 19-9.
East Central will be playing at home against Judson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season. As for San Marcos, they will head out on the road to face off against Clemens at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully San Marcos focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
