Woodlawn will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Corliss Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on December 14th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
On Tuesday, it was a hard-fought match, but Woodlawn had to settle for a 55-52 defeat against Urban Prep-Bronzeville. Woodlawn has struggled against Urban Prep-Bronzeville recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Corliss, who are still winless after their seventh match. They were dealt a 69-34 loss at the hands of Chicago Vocational on Tuesday. Corliss was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.
Despite the defeat, Corliss got a solid performance out of Kameron Gouard, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Gouard scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Joshua Pegues, who scored seven points.
Woodlawn bumped their record down to 3-3 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Corliss, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Woodlawn couldn't quite finish off Corliss in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 and fell 45-42. Thankfully for Woodlawn, Tayvon Reyes (who scored 17 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
