Basketball Recap: Lincoln County Takes a Loss

Lincoln County lost against Evans last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lincoln County Red Devils were dealt a 70-36 loss at the hands of the Evans Knights. The Red Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-12.

Despite the defeat, Lincoln County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Janiah Norman almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. The match was Norman's third in a row with at least ten points. Kadence Elam was another key player, putting up two points along with five boards and four blocks.

Even though they lost, Lincoln County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Chabria Tate continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Evans, going 12 of 24 on her way to 27 points and seven rebounds. Tate is crushing it when it comes to points: she's scored at least 19 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimariya Hinton, who posted eight points and 11 rebounds.

Lincoln County now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Evans, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Lincoln County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-39 victory against Hephzibah on the 14th. As for Evans, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 67-43 win against Laney on the 13th.
