Abby Atkinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilly Lambert, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Gabby Salas was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Paradise made sure to put some runs up on the board against Pilot Point on Friday. Paradise never let Pilot Point get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like Boyd, Paradise also got a great game from a two-way player: McKenna Snyder. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Snyder was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Brooke Limbaugh was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Karli Pierson, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.
Paradise lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Boyd's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Paradise, their record now sits at 13-5-2.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Boyd hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Paradise struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Boyd's way against Paradise when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Boyd made off with an 8-0 win. Does Boyd have another victory up their sleeve, or will Paradise turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
