Even though the Heritage Academy Heroes have not done well against the Trivium Prep Crimson Knights recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Heritage Academy blew past Trivium Prep 63-22 at home. Given Heritage Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Trivium Prep is ranked 347th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Heritage Academy had a senior duo take command as Cameron Irby went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 6 assists and Carlos daniel Garcia scored 14 points along with seven steals and six assists. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Irby has scored at least 25% of Heritage Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of PJ Soltero, who scored five points.
The win makes it two in a row for Heritage Academy and bumps their season record up to 10-5. As for Trivium Prep, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heritage Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on St. John Paul II Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Trivium Prep will take on Kingman Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kingman Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
