Wayne is 0-10 against Panguitch since December of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Badgers will host the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Wayne put up the most points they have all season on Friday. Everything went their way against Grand County as they made off with a 69-47 victory. The Badgers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since December 28, 2024 (when they won 66-25).
Wayne's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Peterson, who went 11-for-16 en route to 25 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Peterson has scored at least a third of the Badgers' points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Robins, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Wayne was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Panguitch ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They secured a 59-53 W over Green River. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bobcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Wayne better keep an eye on Casey Walter. He was instrumental in Panguitch's win, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 13 boards. Those 13 rebounds gave Walter a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taycen Ramsay, who posted eight points.
The win got Wayne back to even at 2-2. As for Panguitch, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Wayne has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 35.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Panguitch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 38.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Wayne suffered a grim 70-45 defeat to Panguitch in their previous meeting back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Badgers were down 41-19.
