This season hasn't been kind to the Desert Heights Prep Yote, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They were dealt a 92-32 defeat at the hands of North Valley Christian Academy on Tuesday. Desert Heights Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-20.
Desert Heights Prep lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Darron Flores, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Flores scored a full 43.8% of Desert Heights Prep's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Beck, who scored two points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Even though they lost, Desert Heights Prep were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
North Valley Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bobby Rodriguez, who scored 19 points along with seven assists and three steals. The matchup was Rodriguez's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Zathan Ruffin was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds.
Desert Heights Prep's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for North Valley Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Desert Heights Prep won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Valley Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on December 13th. North Valley Christian Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Desert Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Desert Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
