Basketball Game Preview: Centerville Bulldogs vs. Kennard Tigers

Centerville and Kennard are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Centerville Bulldogs will head out to take on the Kennard Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Centerville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Centerville against Apple Springs as the squad secured an 89-52 win. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Centerville's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jake Slaten, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 21 rebounds, and Kolt Larsen, who dropped a triple-double on 18 points, ten boards, and 13 assists. Slaten's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hardy Brown, who went 7 for 17 en route to 15 points and six assists.

Centerville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Kennard's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Wells 51-45.

Centerville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. As for Kennard, their loss dropped their record down to 22-8.

Centerville didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Kennard when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 68-64 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centerville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
