The Lake Country Christian Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 81-74 defeat to Pantego Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Lake Country Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Josiah Biddle. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points along with five rebounds. The game was Biddle's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Sam Foley was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Lake Country Christian were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pantego Christian only pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
Pantego Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jameson Burns led the charge by scoring 19 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Burns scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Jackson, who scored 20 points.
Lake Country Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for Pantego Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Country Christian will play host again and welcome Parker-Tarrant HomeSchool, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Parker-Tarrant HomeSchool will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak. As for Pantego Christian, they will be playing at home against Grace Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Prep is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
