It was a good run, but The Miramonte Matadors unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Acalanes 41-8. Miramonte was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Acalanes was led to victory by Josh Elerts and Wyatt Zawadski. Elerts picked up 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Zawadski threw for 225 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes. Elerts' longest reception was for an incredible 83 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Terhar, who rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown.
Miramonte's defeat dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Acalanes, their win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miramonte will face off against Campolindo at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Campolindo is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Acalanes, they will head out on the road to face off against Las Lomas at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
