The Woodstock Wolverines will challenge the Sequoyah Chiefs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Woodstock didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Pope, but they still walked away with a 20-14 win. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 312th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Woodstock's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Graham Burmeister, who rushed for 75 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 194 yards and one TD while completing 72% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Xavier Murphy, who gained 58 total yards.
Woodstock didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Pope to a completion percentage of just 30.4%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Caleb Vigna and Tyler Barbera, who each logged two passes deflected. Given Burmeister's standout performance, it's clear Pope's secondary just wasn't on the same level.

09/12/25 @ Lassiter | 9 |

Woodstock's defense didn't let Hudson Marinko, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for 4.5 sacks. Tyler Howard was especially locked on to Pope's QB and sacked him twice. Howard is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sequoyah, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in September. They blew past Lassiter 32-0 on Friday. Considering the Chiefs have won five games by more than 30 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Sequoyah's win came from a few key players Woodstock will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kolby Martin, who threw for 259 yards and three TDs on only 19 passes. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in November of 2024. Holden Campbell was another key player, gaining 77 total yards and two touchdowns.
Sequoyah's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Woodstock, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Woodstock has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 156.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sequoyah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 209.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Woodstock was dealt a bruising 35-7 loss at the hands of Sequoyah when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Wolverines were down 21-0.
