The Auburn Tigers will head out to face off against the Pike Road Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Auburn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Auburn narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Stanhope Elmore 9-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Lawson Hare made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Hare was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. He also put up a double, which washis first of the season.
Hare wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was JB Upton, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another was Bryson Sheppard, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Auburn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stanhope Elmore only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, Pike Road came up short against Prattville on Saturday and fell 8-5.
Pike Road also got a good showing from Brandt Springer, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Auburn's record now sits at 4-2. As for Pike Road, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
Both Auburn and Pike Road just can't seem to miss. Auburn has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Pike Road struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Auburn's way against Pike Road in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, as Auburn made off with a 15-9 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Auburn since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
