Highline hasn't had much luck against Sammamish recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pirates will take on the RedHawks at 4:30 p.m. Highline has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bellevue hit Highline with a four-run sixth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates lost 12-2 to the Wolverines. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Highline saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Nava Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, while Sammamish put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Lindbergh. The RedHawks were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for the RedHawks, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Jack Lansdowne's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lincoln Castillo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Kolin Jaster was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Sammamish kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lindbergh only managed two hits.
The victory made it two in a row for Sammamish and bumps their season record up to 15-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Highline, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.
Highline couldn't quite get it done against Sammamish in their previous matchup last Wednesday as they fell 6-1. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
