The Helena Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Pelham 59-24. While losing is never fun, Helena can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Pelham is ranked 40th).
Despite the defeat, Helena saw an underclassman step up: Isabel Heintz scored ten points.
Tee King was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with three steals for Pelham. King hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Karma Wynn, who scored ten points along with eight assists and five steals.
Helena dropped their record down to 8-18 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Pelham, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Helena will take on Thompson at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Thompson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Pelham, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Briarwood Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
