Basketball Recap: Altamonte Christian Comes Up Short

If Altamonte Christian was riding high fresh off their 70-40 takedown of Holy Cross Lutheran Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Altamonte Christian Eagles fell just short of the Lecanto Panthers by a score of 61-59 on Saturday. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Altamonte Christian lost, don't look at Josiah Glaude. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 boards gave Glaude a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Almeda, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points.

JT Tipton was his usual excellent self, putting up 24 points and three steals for Lecanto. Tipton has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Loreth, who posted six points in addition to ten rebounds and four steals.

Altamonte Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Lecanto, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Altamonte Christian will venture away from home to challenge Lake Mary Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Altamonte Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season. As for Lecanto, they will head out to face off against Springstead at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Springstead has won four straight at home, while Lecanto won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
