Baseball Recap: New Albany Sets Scoring Season-High Against Water Valley

New Albany scored the most runs they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Water Valley Blue Devils by a score of 19-18. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (ten), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

New Albany got a massive performance out of Landon Evans, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Evans a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Hicks, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Evans wasn't the only one working in the hit department: New Albany kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for New Albany: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 12.

New Albany's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Water Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Albany will face off against North Pontotoc at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Water Valley, they will challenge Ingomar at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
