Fort Collins hasn't had much luck against Broomfield recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Lambkins will challenge the Eagles at 11:00 a.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Fort Collins sitting on seven straight victories and Broomfield on 13.
On Thursday, Fort Collins needed a bit of extra time to put away Rocky Mountain. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lobos 6-5. That's two games straight that the Lambkins have won by just one run.
The team relied heavily on Dylan Rubenstein, who fired off two home runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Oliver Stanevich also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Broomfield faced off against Skyline on Wednesday. The Eagles blew past the Falcons 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Riley Weihing looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Broomfield got a big performance out of Jaycob Park, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Devon Martinez, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Broomfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in 12 consecutive contests.
Fort Collins' record is now 13-7. As for Broomfield, their record now sits at 17-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Fort Collins hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Broomfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Fort Collins suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Broomfield in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Lambkins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
