Baseball Recap: Monroe Central Wins Going Away Against Alexandria-Monroe

While Monroe Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers on Saturday. The matchup marked the Golden Bears' most dominant win of the season so far.

Lane Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Monroe Central let Caleb Luedike and Carter Duncan run wild. Luedike scored two runs while going 3-for-5, while Duncan scored two runs while going 4-for-5. What's more, Duncan posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Myles Oliphant was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Monroe Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alexandria-Monroe only posted an OBP of .160.

Monroe Central's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Alexandria-Monroe, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroe Central will face off against Northeastern at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Alexandria-Monroe, they will take on Elwood in a tournament on Tuesday.
