The Edison Vikings waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Chavez by a score of 44-34. Given Edison's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while the Titans are ranked 738th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Edison's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Damarcus Cobb Jr, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Cobb Jr has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Arthur Grady jr., who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Edison is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Chavez, their loss dropped their record down to 10-15.
Edison will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Mustangs at 2:30 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Chavez, they will challenge the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Weston Ranch has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,473 points over their last 16 matches.
