The Victory Christian Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Lamar on the road and fell 69-26. Victory Christian lost against Lamar in their previous head to head on Friday, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 46-28 score last time.
Lamar's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Gordy, who scored 15 points. Gordy continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Whitcomb, who scored 15 points.
Victory Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Lamar, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Victory Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eastwood Christian at 12:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024. As for Lamar, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against East Rankin Academy at 7:15 p.m. East Rankin Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
