The Clark Montessori Cougars will challenge the Taylor Yellowjackets at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Taylor will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Clark Montessori extended their winning streak to four on Friday. Everything went the Cougars' way against Norwood as they made off with a 13-1 win. Considering the Cougars have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Chase Williams was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Rowan Sierschula was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one stolen base.
Clark Montessori was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taylor). They blew past Finneytown 11-1 on Thursday. The Yellowjackets not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22, 2024 (when they won 12-2).
Caden Bray looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Nick Paff was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Clayton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.
The victory made it two in a row for Taylor and bumps their season record up to 2-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Clark Montessori, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Taylor's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clark Montessori hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Taylor, though, as they've only averaged .253. Will they be able to contain Clark Montessori's hitters?
