After soaring to 21 runs the game before, Northwest Christian were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell just short of Pope John Paul II by a score of 4-2.
Kaden Lanham put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Lanham was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.
Lanham wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Benett Hall, who went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. William Hanners was another key contributor, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Evergreen Lutheran took care of business in their home opener on Monday (barely). They had just enough and edged Pope John Paul II out 6-5.
Amber Bell was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Scannell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Having lost for the first time this season, Northwest Christian fell to 2-1. As for Evergreen Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Everything went Northwest Christian's way against Evergreen Lutheran in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 as Northwest Christian made off with a 14-6 victory.
