Aaron Griffith and Christian Hedinger provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Independence. The connection was good for 77 yards, the longest such play in Coalfield AA this season.
Bluefield extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Monroe, 63-14. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Hedinger was the best wideout in the league this week as Wyoming East beat the Patriots. Hedinger tallied three receptions for 110 yards. Nik Walker helped Wyoming East's passing attack out by catching one ball for five yards.
Griffith was the most productive running back in Coalfield AA this week. In six carries, he ran for 121 yards as the Warriors topped Independence. Jacob Summe also contributed to the rushing game with 78 yards on the ground.
Hedinger made the biggest impact on defense this week as Wyoming East defeated Scott Cuthbert's team. The 6-foot-1 junior forced one fumble and recorded one fumble.
Jacob Thayer put up the best numbers through the air as Webster County fell to Pocahontas County. He finished with four completions for 127 yards and two touchdowns. Thayer's favorite target this week was Dalton Davis, who caught two passes for 78 yards.
The Highlanders' Thayer and Hunter Given have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Thayer has thrown for 988 yards this season, while Given, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 22 catches for 436 yards. Greenbrier West's Malik Boatwright leads the league in rushing yards with 1438.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Liberty takes on Gary Poindexter's team. At the moment, the Raiders are in seventh, while the Warriors are in third.
