Anthony has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the McCamey Badgers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Anthony suffered their biggest defeat since November 21, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Wink, falling 80-45. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Anthony in their matchups with Wink: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their defeat, Anthony saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Julie Cuellar, who scored 29 points, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 64.4% of Anthony's points, marking the 21st time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelee Guerro, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, McCamey's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 54-36 to Fort Hancock.
Anthony now has a losing record at 11-12. As for McCamey, they bumped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road.
Anthony didn't have too much breathing room in their match against McCamey when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 45-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Anthony since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
