Fox Creek's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Newberry 7-0. The Predators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.
Fox Creek let Jordyn Grant and Hannah Andrews run wild. Grant went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run, while Andrews went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Jasmine Grant was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
Fox Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Swansea lost 15-4 to Silver Bluff on Friday.
Alesha Riley was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Emma Franklin also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Fox Creek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Swansea, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
Swansea's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fox Creek has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .506. It's a different story for Swansea, though, as they've only averaged .348. Will they be able to contain Fox Creek's hitters?
Fox Creek took their win against Swansea in their previous matchup on April 1st by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Predators have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
