After a string of three wins, the Rancocas Valley Red Devils's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. Their rough 63-42 defeat to Middle Township might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Rancocas Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Middle Township is ranked 11th).
Middle Township's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamir McNeil, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. The contest was McNeil's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Trombetta, who scored 14 points along with five assists.
Rancocas Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Middle Township, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rancocas Valley will take on Triton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Middle Township won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. Thomas Aquinas at 12:00 p.m. on December 31st. St. Thomas Aquinas is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
