Basketball Game Preview: Crimson Cliffs Mustangs vs. Desert Hills Thunder

Crimson Cliffs is 1-9 against Desert Hills since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs will square off against the Desert Hills Thunder at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Crimson Cliffs is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-48 heartbreaker at the hands of Mountain View.

Crimson Cliffs' loss came about despite a quality game from Coco Korella, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 13 points and seven assists. Korella is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Alyssa Whittaker was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 68-32, which was the final score in Desert Hills' tilt against Snow Canyon on Friday. The contest marked the Thunder's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Desert Hills now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Crimson Cliffs, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Crimson Cliffs skirted past Desert Hills 49-47 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crimson Cliffs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
