Baseball Game Preview: ALA - Gilbert North Eagles vs. Dobson Mustangs

The ALA - Gilbert North Eagles will challenge the Dobson Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. ALA - Gilbert North will be strutting in after a victory while Dobson will be coming in after a loss.

ALA - Gilbert North took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on McClintock with a sharp 13-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Matix Dunn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Diesel Lund was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grady Poulsen, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

ALA - Gilbert North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McClintock only posted an OBP of .250.

Meanwhile, Dobson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Casa Grande, falling 10-0.

Dobson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Dobson, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Dobson's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for ALA - Gilbert North, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
