On Wednesday, Waldron had to suffer through a rough 55-23 loss at the hands of Britton Deerfield. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Waldron has scored all season.
Britton Deerfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Shiels out in front who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Shiels also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Good, who scored 13 points.
Britton Deerfield's lineup was just a bit different on Wednesday as Alex Anspach got a bit more time on the court (seven vs. his season average of 3.88). Anspach made the most of the opportunity, scoring four points along with seven rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Waldron's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7. As for Britton Deerfield, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waldron won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Litchfield at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Michigan (Litchfield is ranked 574th, while Waldron is ranked 572nd). Britton Deerfield is on the road again on Monday and plays Washtenaw Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on February 12th. Hopefully Britton Deerfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday.
