The Opp Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Pleasant Home Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither Opp nor Pleasant Home posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.
Opp had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were outmatched by Kinston on the road and fell 51-16. Opp was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-9.
Despite their loss, Opp saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cuba Wiggins, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Dionna Stoudemire, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Home had to suffer through a rough 60-17 loss at the hands of New Brockton. While losing is never fun, Pleasant Home can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while New Brockton is ranked 38th).
Opp's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Pleasant Home, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Opp was taken down by Pleasant Home 72-10 in their previous matchup back in November of 2017. Thankfully for Opp, Hope Gunter (who scored 16 points along with 9 assists and 4 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
