Basketball Recap: Foundation Christian Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against St. Petersburg Catholic last Saturday, Foundation Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Foundation Christian Academy Panthers took a 50-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Florida College Academy Falcons. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 55-51.

When it comes to explaining why Foundation Christian Academy lost on Tuesday, don't look at Caleb Hagan. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. The matchup was Hagan's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Griffin, who scored 11 points along with six boards and three steals.

Foundation Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Florida College Academy, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foundation Christian Academy will host Zephyrhills Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Zephyrhills Christian Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Foundation Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight. Florida College Academy has already played their next contest (against Winter Haven Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
