The Wickenburg Wranglers are taking a road trip to square off against the Glendale Prep Academy Griffins at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wickenburg's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Mohave Accelerated.
Jaxson Hone made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. He has become a key player for Wickenburg: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 6-8 otherwise. Hone was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxon Newman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Hector Samano also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glendale Prep Academy). They were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over Mohave Accelerated on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Like Wickenburg, Glendale Prep Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Eli Marsh. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Marsh has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Josiah Simms was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Corbin Kim, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Glendale Prep Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.
Wickenburg has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Glendale Prep Academy, their record is now 13-2.
Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wickenburg has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .506. However, it's not like Glendale Prep Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .522. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wickenburg might still be hurting after the 16-5 loss they got from Glendale Prep Academy in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Wranglers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
